| Bio: | I find it hard to summarize myself, but here is my ongoing attempt to do so... Born and raised on the East coast I've been happily living in the Pacific Northwest for 8+ years now. There is no other place that I’d rather live. Typically I'm an even-keel sort of guy. I can "let loose" and have fun in the right situations. I'm just usually not a tightly wound bundle of energy. I am, however, a very passionate person. I’m a thinker first and foremost. I love to know how things work and enjoy learning new things in general. Self-evaluation and personal growth are critical to my identity. Balance is important to me. I try to understand all sides of things the best I can. The stands I make are always open to re-evaluation. I strongly believe in complete honesty and openness with life and love. I try not to take things for granted and I definitely do not believe in blind faith. I'm not particularly outgoing, but I'm not shy. I'm the type that likes to sit back and assess my surroundings before diving in and that sometimes comes off as stand-offish. I prefer small groups. Large crowds drain me. I like to have “high-energy” fun, but I also really enjoy peace and quiet. Hanging out with friends playing games or watching movies is usually more fun for me than partying. Exercising creativity is important to me. I have a good aesthetic sense and I've always felt I'd be a good artist if I actually had the physical skill to put my sense to paper. Lately I’ve spent a lot of time editing photos and I'm pretty skilled at it. (A lot of this has been cleaning up old photos for genealogy work.) I'm usually fairly serious, but I love humor--the absurd is a joy to me and gives my serious side balance (so I hope, anyway). I do love the outdoors, although I haven’t been out as much as I would like lately. I’m particularly drawn to mountains, flowing water, and trees. I am most awed by isolated vistas where the marks of civilization are few. Things I've run out of space for: books, DVDs, board games, tools, kids toys, kids, Lego bricks (actually MegaBloks), puzzles, genealogy papers. I built an 8x10 shed for the outdoors stuff and don't park in the garage, but it's still a constant battle. I'm happily working in software development. I’m pretty much a nerd.
